CPAP Update

Sofia just completed her first 90 minute CPAP trial with no problems. As usual she barely even noticed. We are now set to ramp up by 30 minutes 2x every 2-3 days. Hopefully things will go quickly and she will be on full CPAP soon. Next step after that is to do full off the vent trials with the same kind of weaning plan.

Pajama Party

Sofia and Daniel hung out in Sofia's crib yesterday morning, in their jammies. Both babies seem to have had growth spurts recently and are again just about the same weight (at least 14.5 lbs).

Sofia loves to be on her tummy in the crib, trying to crawl. We had to put bumper pads in the crib so that she doesn't hit her head on the bars. Here she is on a crazy hair day.

More Daniel Modeling

We took both kids out to play in the pool today and Daniel really loved it this time, splashing a lot and bouncing up and down. Sofia didn't like it as much but she just needed to get used to it.

Sofia had another great CPAP day. We'll see what the docs say tomorrow about the plan from here.

Here is Daniel modeling this line of pools and squirty animals.

CPAP!

Sofia passed her first 15 minute CPAP trial. Basically, CPAP removes the breath rate and some of the intake pressure and leaves only a low constant pressure to inflate her lungs, so that she has to breathe in and out on her own. She barely noticed. Here she is in pigtails today - her hair is now long enough.

Outdoor Fun

We have been taking the babies outside more lately, especially when the weather is nice. Yesterday, Daniel tried out the baby pool.

Lots of Toys

Here's Daniel playing on his mat. He has learned to sit up! Sofia likes to flip onto her tummy and threatens to crawl.

We've been hitting the yard sales recently and they are a GREAT place to get toys for cheap. We've picked up piles of books, electronic toys and regular kids toys. enough to last them a few years. seriously. definitely check them out.

First Tooth

Sofia's first tooth. Take our word for it, it's there! Daniel won't be far behind as he's being really fussy and crying with his teething which is very unlike his normal self.

New Pictures

Things are starting to return to normal around here, but we have changed a few things to make it easier in case of emergency. Sofia is happy to be home and pulled out her feeding tube already. Here are some recent pictures. Daniel is working on sitting up and crawling. He is very close to achieving both. Mommy bought some mats to help the babies when playing on the floor. Our physical therapist visited today with some tips.

We have also discovered that Daniel tends to break out into hives, and in most cases we are not sure of the source. Sometimes it is a new food, but sometimes it is just a mystery. Here's one picture of hives he got on his face, but sometimes they are all over. Benadryl helps, although it results in a 3 hour nap.
