Extubation

Today, they extubated Sofia. The doctors and nurses are still watching her to see how she progresses. Below is a video of her on the NIPPV (Non-invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation) and sucking on a pacifier. We are anxious and calling the hospital continually to check on how she's doing. Keep going Sofia!

Daniel's pressure was also weaned and he had a pretty calm day overall. Both kids are still off of the diuretics, which is making them pee less and is another thing the nurses are watching. Their electrolytes will be checked tomorrow to see if their sodium levels allow more diuretics or not.

She is so precious. And it seems they are both making progress.
I hope you and Ted are doing well, and taking care of one another. Don't forget to make time for yourselves... even just to have a quiet dinner, and talk.

You all continue in our prayers.

I hope Sofia is able to stay on just the NIPPV and that Daniel can join her with it soon. You can really see them advancing in all of the pictures and videos.

That video is just beautiful. It's amazing how much they are progressing. I'm sure you're very proud of your tough and brave children!
