Starting Steroids

The doctors have recommended a 5 day course of steroids for both babies to help their lungs to improve. Primarily, the steroids are anti-inflammatory and should help with the fluid in the lungs and give them both a boost so that they can be weaned off the ventilator. They received their first dose today.

Mommy cuddled with Daniel today and held him for a while in a blanket. Sofia held onto Mommy's pinkie finger tightly (see picture below) as her nurse extracted a little blood and checked her vitals. She didn't let go for quite a while.

Daniel is now at 880 grams, and Sofia is a whopping 910 grams but most of her weight gain was probably due to fluid since it was unusually high from yesterday's weigh in at 860.
